Pair and group work

Pair or group work is an important and essential strategy for teaching English. Pair and group work help students to increase their cooperative and collaborative learning because groups and pairs of students working together, so students have the opportunity to share and help each other in the class. 

Why is it important to make group or pair work in an English class?

I think it is very important to make group or pair work in class because students have the opportunity to speak and use their English. Moreover, I consider that if students work together, they can help each other and share their ideas and opinions about a discussion or a task that the teacher assign. 

It is important to mention that when the teacher ask students to make pair or group during the class, the role of the teacher change because the teacher has to move around the groups listening or offering his/her help to the students.

Advantages and disadvantages to make pairs and groups work in the class

Advantages
-Students can share their opinions and ideas with other classmates.
-Shy students have the opportunity to speak and share.
-Students can teach each other. 

Disadvantages

-Sometimes it is necessary to waste time in order to make the groups.
-The class can be noisy because everybody want to talk.
-Some students don´t feel comfortable to work with other students, so they don´t work.

I consider that pair and group work are essentials strategies that an English teacher has to use in his/her classes because these help students to increase their learning in English.
